Konjac and glucomannan: food, supplement and claim

Konjac noodles and glucomannan supplements are not the same product. A conditional claim should not become a general promise.

Identify the form

Record whether it is prepared food, powder, capsule or tablet. Glucomannan quantities and instructions differ between products. Do not transfer concentrated-product rules to a recipe or assume that konjac food alone is a complete meal.

Read a claim in context

EFSA evaluated glucomannan claims in 2010. An authorised wording sits within precise conditions of use and a defined population; it does not prove every commercial mixture effective or predict an individual result. NIH also presents limitations and precautions for this category. Read the whole dossier before deciding.

Prepare safety questions

Bring packaging and instructions to a pharmacist. Ask whether the form suits your circumstances and medicines, and how to interpret swallowing precautions. We provide no intake or quantity-escalation protocol. For a konjac dish, describe accompaniments and culinary use instead.

EXAMPLE / HOW TO USE IT

Two separate files

File A: konjac noodles with vegetables and tofu; a culinary meal question. File B: concentrated capsules; questions about quantity, instructions, precautions and interactions. A shared plant name does not merge these decisions.
