SUPPLEMENTS / CRITICAL READING
Ingredients and promises: a checking dossier
Each ingredient requires its own question. Check these points before transferring a study or promise to a product.
One file per reference
For each claim keep product name, formulation, population, comparator, outcome and duration. A missing match remains unknown; it must not be replaced by a confidence score.
Carnitine
A biological role does not show that supplementation produces the desired result. Compare the cited trial with the objective: performance, body composition or another outcome. Ask which population was studied and whether the formula matches the box. Keep physiology information separate from a usage recommendation.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Guarana
Guarana appears in stimulant mixtures. To examine combinations, list drinks and other supplements with their compositions. Show the list to the professional checking precautions. Feeling energetic does not measure fat lost; trial duration and outcome still need identifying.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Raspberry ketones
Animal research does not validate a mixture marketed to humans. Record the experiment type and actual outcome in the advertising reference. Label extrapolation explicitly. The word raspberry does not equate a concentrate with a fruit portion.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Forskolin
If an advertisement cites a study, find its protocol: allocation, comparator, duration and body-composition measurement. Article availability does not replace reading it. Record the actual extract and quantity, then check risks and interactions separately with a professional.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Glutamine
A use in a particular medical or sporting context does not transfer to a general slimming promise. Write your objective and ask whether the reference addresses the same objective. Identify the powder and other mixture ingredients before comparison. No individual requirement is calculated here.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Glutathione and detox claims
Ask what the seller means by a toxin, how it was measured and which clinical result was observed. A laboratory mechanism is not a demonstrated body-cleansing procedure. Detox and antioxidant wording should not replace protocol and measurement.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Essential oils
Route of use is essential information. An aromatic preparation and an ingested product are not the same object. Bring formula and instructions to the relevant professional. We provide no ingestion recipe or concentration increases for weight loss.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
Testosterone
Hormone treatment is not selected from a physique objective or advertisement. It requires a medical indication and assessment. We provide no seller or usage protocol. First explain symptoms and expectations to a doctor, including medicines and supplements already used.
Complete: the reference concerns …; the marketed formula contains …; the studied outcome is …; what is missing is …
A sorting example
An advertisement claims fat loss, but its reference describes an animal mechanism. Classification: preclinical mechanism, not demonstration of this human promise. Another reference might change the file; examine it rather than assuming it exists.
