Distinguish three types of rule
A documented allergy, medicine-related instruction and personal preference do not have the same status. The first two may require precise avoidance agreed with relevant professionals. “Never eat bread” from an advertisement lacks that framework. Write the reason for each restriction and the instruction’s source.
Read guidance as patterns
Public recommendations distinguish foods to increase, favour and reduce. They describe habits, not wrongdoing after one meal. To use guidance, choose a practical change: vary grains, cook pulses or examine sweetened-drink frequency. It should remain compatible with budget and shared meals.
Reconsider a difficult rule
If excluding a food group, ask what replaces it and why. Fear or guilt can make meals difficult. A history of eating disorders and therapeutic restrictions need separate support. This page does not ask you to reverse medical instructions: it helps check origins and clarify non-medical rules.
EXAMPLE / HOW TO USE IT
A sorting table
Rule: avoid an allergen. Source: health professional; maintain the instruction. Rule: remove all starches to “cut”. Source: social post; ask about the objective and alternatives instead of adopting it as obligatory. The table distinguishes rather than merges these circumstances.
